DAISY, If you want
OUR support for the give-aways (books and "stuff") for CDO
children, you better get back to me ASAP before we are
outvoted and the money I am holding in trust goes to the private
children's home in Talakag (1 1/2 hours up the highway).
The last time our ex-pat charity efforts were changed to be
ruled by a quorum/committee, it dissolved within four months. With help
from ex-pat contributors, I resurrected it, and we all can be
justifiably proud of what we have accomplished over the past years.
I can't count the times have I pleaded; "Look out your
front door, recognize something (in CDO) that you deem worthy of "our"
involvement and support." NOTHING! ("You have my P100, don't
ask me to get involved.")
I have succeeded in pressuring Rotary Clubs (and Congressman
Rodrigues and his sister Jocelyn, the Nazareth Barangay
Captain) to contribute two-thirds to our one-third to
get worthwhile "jobs" done.
I'm embarrassed,
because it was addressed to ME, and not to US, but WE earned a
proclamation from the CDO City Council.
I have NEVER made a
donation, or a contribution in MY name. Always, "THIS is a
donation from the CDO ex-pat "foreigners"". (Daisy can
attest to this. Funeral flowers included.)
My "personal" support has, and always will be, done
anonymously. (I receive more credit that way; "We would like to thank
our anonymous donors for the two million dollars we have received." Even
though I did not contribute, I am "anonymous".)
Bottom line?
I'm gone, I'm on my way out, I'm outta here.
I hope their
successors can achieve the results that we, in the past, have earned the
right to be proud of.
Done and gone. Who on the "committee" is collecting my
P100 tomorrow? I will walk in, to an upraised hand holding a P100
note.
RON, please erase my name on the posted weekly advert, and
replace it with the newly elected
committee chairman who should be to contacted concerning
our fourteen year get-together of the Wednesday ex-pats.
"Free at last. Free at last.
Thank you Lord, I'm free at last."

Mike - I was asked to come up with a proposal
concerning how we can merge and better organise our weekly
gathering of charity funding.
The proposal is attached for your perusal.
I will inform the expats who currently contribute
to Ricky Lopez's Therapy tomorrow at our regular KL gathering.
Regards.
Jim.
Proposal
to restructure the Expat Charity weekly Raffle/ Donations.
In order to merge the Weekly Raffle/Independent
Donation and have a more effective and cohesively transparent
charity structure I propose the following.
The Independent Donations currently collected each
Wednesday and going towards the payment of therapy for a Bethany Child
Ricky Lopez will cease at the end of December 2010.
The Weekly Raffle will continue under the banner Kingston
Lodge Expat’s Charity Fund.
The number of tickets sold each week will be duly
accounted for and entered in a running summary of accounts book held for
that purpose. The cost of prizes for the raffle will be supported by a
receipt of purchase and deducted from the monies collected. The balance
from the sale of raffle ticket will be placed in a Bank Account opened
for that purpose with two (2) signatories required for any withdrawal of
funds.
Distribution of the funds collected will be only by the
approval of the majority of contributors or a quorum set
up for that purpose whichever is more practicable.
No funds will go direct or in kind to any government
institution or establishment but rather only to further the
health, welfare or education of deserving children after approval is
given.
In order that the new fund can start on a high I further
propose that the balance of funds in my possession after Ricky Lopez’s
fees have been paid for the month of December 2010 are transferred to
the new fund along with the balance of the existing Weekly Raffle funds
from January 1st 2011.
If this proposal is accepted I suggest we launch it on
Boxing Day 26th December 2010 during the Kingston Lodge
Christmas Buffet Lunch event or alternatively on the first Wednesday
meeting in January 2011.
N.B Ricky Lopez will be
sponsored by a US couple from January 1st
2011.
Bethany Home for Children Talakag wish to thank
all the KL CdeO Expats who contributed to Ricky’s therapy for
their kindness which alone they could not have afforded to do, for
which they will always be truly grateful.
