Torgeir, no need to get your tail feathers in an uproar.  The remark about to Hell with him was a sarcastic remark not meant to be serious.  You can have your feelings hurt if you want but it only hurts you. Trust me people in this group go out of their way to be helpful.  Just because you asked if anyone knew him and no one did does not mean that we are not without sympathy.  I do think that Tom asked some very important questions.  The embassy is a very real idea and concern.  The ransome is another valid point.  These kidnappers very seldom kidnap a person without some kind of demand for money.  Another question to be asked is who did he come to visit here in the Phils.  Wh did he leave contact information with.  It is a safe policy there to always let someone know where you are and who you are with.  And as you said also the police do not even know if he was kidnapped or not.

I was told by my friend (policeman) that they had recived an tip that an american had been "nappet"...They contacted the hotel an the guy was missing. They still investigate it as an possible kidnaping.
