Mike...
I agree with you: I was being facetious in describing the place where
common
sense and the letter of the law meet.
But, I've noted this before (and Sgt. Mike made reference to it as
well):
Filipino kids graduate from high school at the age of 14, can legally
have sex
at 12... it certainly seems like this country considers a person of 15
(the age
of the jailbird's "girlfriend") to be largely and wholly "adult". Other
than
(a) the possibility of prostitution, (b) the superficial/spurious
Euroamerican
"proper age" values that we assign to the various stages of life --
which, as
already established, don't apply to The Philippines, and (c) generally
bad
judgment, I'm curious as to what other things the fellow is guilty of.

jail for beating some sense into him. Age of consent isnt the only laws
around
here. Hell the Family law is a night mare in itself. I dont care if I am
here
and the age of consent is 16 i'll stick with what my old man
said..."anything
under 18 will get you 25 years in jail" may not have been a 100% true
but why
take the risk. As a foreigner of any nationality we are always prime
target
number one so why dance with the laws?

Philippines is. It is 12. (http://www.avert.

way the guy would be in jail for being with a 15-year-old girl is if the
girl
was asking for money... or the guy was offering to pay... then she would
have to
be over 18.
